A romantic fairy-tale about a naughty princess who stopped being followed by strokes of bad luck only when she comprehended that she alone could decide on her future, on her fate.Since the death of her parents, Princess Svatava and her sister Lada are in the loving care of their grandmother, the Queen. But Svatava repays her grandmothers kindness by being mean, quarrelsome and giving her nothing but trouble. After one of the countless quarrels Svatava runs away. Svatavas Fate appears to the Queen with assurances that the Princess is all right for the time being, but that her future fate depended on her behaviour. Svatava roams around the country, and she brings bad luck with her wherever she stops. She arrives in the kingdom of a young king who is just about to choose a wife. But he is only willing to marry the girl who is capable of make bobbin lace identical to that worn by his mother on her wedding gown. Svatava appears before the king, who wants to punish her strictly for all the damage she has caused. At last Svatava realises that she would have to try and set things right herself. She begs the king for permission to stay and work at the castle. She even learns to make bobbin lace and the piece of lace she produces is the loveliest, moreover it is identical to the pattern they want. So all that remains now is to tell of a happy end.
