The remarkable story of the rise and fall of Josef Pfitzner, top scientist and historian.After the coming of Nazism to power, Pfitzner, originally from the Sudetenland, entered politics and became acting mayor of Prague. He offered his expertise to the service of so called war science. In 1945 he was sentenced to death by a special court and publicly hanged before a crowd of nearly a hundred thousand people. The film contains newly discovered and until now unpublicized archive material from private collections -uncensored war newsreels and something exceptionally unique - the only other (besides K. H. Frank) preserved record of an execution of a war criminal.
