This is a young woman who, because of her sight impairment, has to be forever proving that she is a good mother and an excellent singer. Kateryna Kolcova-Tlusta belongs to that category of human beings, of whom it can be said that they are dramatic artists of life. She lives to the full in every way. And life has presented her with many problems. It is no simple matter to live in a foreign country as a blind woman, to make good in the area of music, to bring up a half-blind daughter. And yet Kateryna is full of humour and laughter; she also surprises us with her deep knowledge of Jewish and Gypsy music, the wisdom of eastern cultures as well as mastery of Russian literature.
