To be blind is a handicap. To be a talented musician is a gift. Miroslav Janek, director of the internationally successful documentary The Unseen, has here created an intimate dialogue with several strong personalities through which (in a series of daily encounters) he succeeds in showing a vivid picture of life in a community of blind conservatory students. The film is surprising for its humorous and non-sentimental rendering of people most of us approach with shyness. Its gentle pace makes it a pleasure to watch and share their aspirations and dreams.
