The dramatic story of a hero against his will. Based on a true story, DIVIDED WE FALL is a black comedy about the ability of fear and necessity to turn common people into heroes. The story is set in a small Czech town occupied by the German Army during the last years of WWII. One day a childless Czech couple named Josef and Marie come across their former neighbour, a Jew who has managed to escape imprisonment in a Nazi camp. Although desperately fearful of taking on such a potentially dangerous responsibility, they decide to offer David refuge in their home. This is the beginning of a dramatic fight for survival that forever connects their fates. Heroism and collaboration, generosity and cowardice intermingle, making it difficult - if not impossible - to pass judgement. This film is the latest work of Jan Hrebejk, the director of the highly successful family comedy Cosy Dens.
