THE LAND GONE WILD

Zdivočelá země

This romantic adventure story recounts the little known and long banned events of the 1945-1951 period of Czechoslovak history. After the German inhabitants were moved out of the Czech border regions in 1945, new settlers came to these districts. But as they did not all come with good intentions, human concord and friendship became all the more valuable. The main hero of the story, Antonín Maděra, was an air-force pilot in Britain during the war. Though he faces hatred from the Germans, his main antagonists are the opportunists seeking an easy life in the border regions. Nevertheless, he manages to survive, and even finds true love and friendship. Then comes 1948 and the Communist take-over: Maděra has no idea of the pain and suffering still in store for him...
