A peaceful comedy describing the life of an ordinary family during the Communist era after Czechoslovakia was occupied by Soviet troops. Life was more farce than tragedy during that period, but the borderline between these extremes was delicate and easily crossed. While at first the film's heroes are often in risky or dangerous situations, the end of the story, set in the period after the 'Velvet Revolution,' is conciliatory, amiable and ironic.
