Catalogue of Czech Television Programmes
A unique two part documentary on the life and work of composer Gustav Mahler. Through the engaging form of the feature film (narrated by renowned French musicologist Prof. Henri Louis de la Grange) viewers get a closer look at the fate of this Czech native son. His work grew out of the cultural tradition of Central Europe (Austrian, Czech and Jewish) under the prevailing mood at the turn of the twentieth century. Above all the creators investigate episodes and elements from Mahler’s life which significantly helped form him as an artist.
