The story of a boy who, while playing with a tape recorder, discovers a way of reading other people's thoughts. When he investigates his parents' minds he realizes that their heads are cluttered with all sorts of things, though neither spends much time thinking about him. As compensation, he is happy to find a girl thinking about him, someone who may even think him worthwhile.
