DADDY

Taťka

A television film set in contemporary days about the problems faced by today’s children that often form their whole future lives.Filip is thirteen. He lives in a small town near the Austrian border with his divorced mother, her new husband and their small daughter. His gang of friends kill time any way available to them– spraying graffiti on gravestones, piercing the tyres of the Austrian tourists’ cars. Sometimes he torments his younger schoolmate to make himself seem important. Filip’s own father has spent a few years in prison and has just been released. Filip isn’t interested in spending time with his jailbird father and the latter’s efforts to participate in his upbringing are unpalatable for the boy and his mother. However, his biological father would like to make friends with him and it is due to his Dad that Filip finds new horizons, learns about new values and his own family’s past. When the boy learns the circumstances of his father’s imprisonment – that his former partner and friend had got him into trouble, Filip insists on justice being meted out with the naive faith of his thirteen years. There too his Dad tries to explain to him without any grand words that simple, radical steps and the longing for revenge resolve nothing. Filip is forced to unravel the complicated knot of events he had brought about – the effort involved would be the determining factor in his further relationship with his Dad, his mother, her second husband, his gang of pals and all the other boys and girls.
