The year of 1950 ... while some people are enthusiastically building up a totalitarian state, others are fleeing from it in fright. And some are seen no more. Like Jarmila, doctor Maria’s sister. True enough, a letter came from her, with a West-German stamp, but it was addressed to “Maruška” – though Jarmila never used this diminutive form of calling her sister. Such is the beginning of a dramatic story: first an almost ungrounded doubt, then the intuition of a loving sister. Maria sets out to follow the trail – which is about all that can be revealed. It is a thrilling, raw story, in which more than one life is at stake.
